“HE’S ALIVE!”
Matthew 28:1-20 (NKJV)
1 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
6 "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 "And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."
8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.
10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me." .........
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
The platypus reminds one of the resurrection.
Many refuse to accept it because it doesn't fit their world view, even though the evidence is overwhelming. Jesus was dead at point A and alive at point B. After careful examination we have to go with the facts even if they support something unusual. The platypus lives ... and Jesus arose. Leading Lawyers’s case for the Resurrection, Ross Clifford, pg 104, 1991,1996,
THEREFORE, WE MUST LOOK AT THE WHOLE OF SCRIPTURE TO UNDERSTAND THE LENGTH AND BREADTH AND DEPTH AND HEIGHT OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE POSSIBILITIES RESULTING FROM THE REALITY OF JESUS CHRIST’S RESURRECTIONActs 1:1-11 (NKJV)
1 .........2 the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; ...5 ....6.....7....8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 .... This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
He’s alive! He’s alive!
This morning, I want to look at the prospect, presentation and privileges of the resurrection
1) Jesus Christ declared the prospect of the resurrection
2) Jesus Christ presented the resurrection
3) Jesus Christ enjoys the privileges of the resurrection, and so do we.
1) Jesus Christ declared the prospect of the resurrection
Matthew 16:21-23 (NKJV) 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
22 .......
Matthew 20:18-19 (NKJV) 18 "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 "and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again."
Mark 9:31 (NKJV) 31 For He taught His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day."
Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
Mark 14:27-28 (NKJV) 27 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered.' 28 "But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."
Luke 18:31-34 (NKJV) 31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 "For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 "They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again." 34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.
Luke 24:44-49 (NKJV) 44 ....45.....46 Then He said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

John 11:23-27 (NKJV) 23...... 24.....25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
John 12:27-33 (NKJV) 27 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." 29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him." 30 Jesus answered ....."And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
Jesus made it clear that he was to die, be buried and rise again
Yet, how could they not know? His disciples had been told many times!
In fact, his enemies knew! Matthew 27:62-66 (NKJV) 62 On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, 63 saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise.'
SO THEY SAID:
64 "Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first." 65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." 66 So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.
CHRIST AROSE!
2) Jesus Christ presented the resurrection
Matthew 28:5-7 (NKJV) 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
6 "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 "And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."
Matthew 28:9-10 (NKJV)
9 ......10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me."
John 20:24-29 (NKJV) 24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. .... 26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" 27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Dead People and apparitions do not eat!
John 21:1 (NKJV) 1 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself:

9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, ..... . 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." 11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"--knowing that it was the Lord. ........
Then Look At What Happened:
John 21:15 (NKJV) 15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."
PAUL SAID: 1 Corinthians 15:3-10 (NKJV) 3 ...... He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. ........
IS God’s Grace IN Vain or Not in Vain in your life?
And Then The Ascension!! Luke 24:50-53 (NKJV) .....He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
I hereby assert that on an actual day and a date in our history, if you could have been there, you could have touched the living Jesus, heard him speak, seen him die, observed the empty tomb and a couple days later experienced the power of his resurrection and ascension, firsthand.
3) Jesus Christ enjoys the privileges of the resurrection, and so do we.
A) HE ASCENDED
Luke 24:50-53 (NKJV)
Luke continues his story: Acts 1:9-11 (NKJV) 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
HE WILL COME AGAIN – one privilege we enjoy because of his resurrection
B) HE IS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER
Mark 16:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
PETER:
Acts 2:32-33 (NKJV) 32 "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
RE: STEPHEN:
Acts 7:54-58 (NKJV) 54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" .....
C) HE IS INTERCEDING FOR US
Romans 8:31-34 (NKJV).......34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
He is protecting us from allegations from the evil one!
D) HE {GOD} INDWELLS US
1 Peter 1:10-13 (NKJV) .... the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. ....
1) He was Promised!
John 14:15-18 (NKJV) 15 .... 16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. .....
Acts 1:7-9 (NKJV) 7 ......8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." ......, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
2) He is powerful!
Act 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
Ephesians 1:19-20 (NKJV) 19 [THAT YOU MAY KNOW] what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
It is the same power that had raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and we enjoy his presence in our human lives.
Philippians 3:8-11 (NKJV) 8 ...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection,.” He is Powerful!!!!!
3) He Is Our Possession!
John 14:15-17 (NKJV) 15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
THEN A COUPLE VERSES LATER….:
John 14:20-21 (NKJV) 20 "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Indeed, we are clearly taught that it is in fellowship with the present life of Christ in heaven that Christians realize the difference between spiritual immaturity and maturity —International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
HE HAS RISEN!!!!
If we would really let the cross change us the Life we would then live would be the life of Christ who ROSE from The DEAD that 1st Easter!!
He IS ALIVE!
